The sharing of one's love is beautifully displayed for everyone to see especially when a sand ceremony is chosen for your wedding day. Sand colors that uniquely define the bride and groom are separately contained in two glass vases. During the wedding ceremony, usually prior to the wedding vows, the two sand colors are poured together into a heart shaped unity bottle, thus symbolizing the creation of two becoming one.

The sharing of love can be customized to include a religious person or one's extended family members by adding another vase with sand to your sand ceremony. The addition of a third vase with sand usually represents another family member or a religious person like a minister, priest or rabbi. The family member or religious person to represent the grounding of the relationship between the bride and groom pours a different sand color into the unity vase as the two colors chosen for both bride and groom are poured symbolizing their union together as husband and wife.
If you would like a "Unity" ceremony within your wedding ceremony and the wedding is going to be outside, you might want to consider this beautiful alternative to a Unity Candle ceremony. Candle ceremonies outside are at the mercy of the wind and elements and sometimes don't work. But with a "Sand Ceremony" there is nothing to blow out. The wording and symbolism is the same as in a Unity Candle ceremony, but the couple blends two containers of sand into a single container instead of lighting two candles and using them to light a unity candle. If you want, you can use colored sand and blend the sand in layers... keeping the unity container as a souvenir of this part of your wedding.

The unity candle is stored in a box and can be difficult to keep in good condition in the future, due to the candle becoming dirty and may melt. However, the heart shaped unity bottle used in the sand ceremony can be displayed perfectly showing your individual sand colors blended into one.
